PRS Amps Announce PTC Amp Modification

Nov 19, 2010

Amp building at PRS, like guitar building, is a never ending process of discovery. Doug Sewell and the Amp team are constantly exploring new avenues in a quest for great tone. This affinity for tweaking led to an amp mod, internally referred to as “Rev B,” earlier this year for our 16 and 30 watt amps. Sewell explains, “We originally designed the Sweet 16 and ‘30’ as low wattage amps to be used in the home and in recording situations. What we didn’t count on was that a significant number of customers would want to gig with these amps...some in fairly large venues. To address this, we came up with an amp mod in the spring of 2010 that affords more head room and a different EQ on the high end."

The New Modern Eagle LTD

Nov 12, 2010

The guitars in the Modern Eagle family embody a tradition of aesthetic and tonal sophistication. This limited run amplifies these qualities, creating an instrument with style and refinement. The woods chosen for this run, including a Private Stock grade top, ribboned mahogany back, and Madagascar rosewood neck and fretboard, are among the finest woods we use, and the modified Celtic inlay was designed especially for this run. With a 5-way blade control providing ample switching possibilities, the pickup configuration (inspired by our earlier “Studio” model) gives you the versatility of our 57/08™ Narrowfield pickups with the ferocity of a traditional humbucker in the treble position. This limited run also features our ‘Pattern’ neck shape and V12 finish, which offers a unique, classic feel while enhancing the natural resonance of the wood. Each guitar includes a numbered backplate signed by Paul Reed Smith.

Private Stock DGT - 25 Piece Limited Run

Nov 12, 2010

PRS Guitars’ Private Stock team is expanding their typical offering of one-off instruments by creating this unique limited run. Each guitar features exquisite woods, including a uniquely stained “Chevron” curly maple top, Pernambuco neck, and black East Indian rosewood fingerboard. Bearing the name of well-respected PRS Signature artist David Grissom, you can be sure these guitars sound as good as they look. After playing the run’s prototype guitar at Experience PRS 2010, Grissom enjoyed the guitar so much that he claimed it for his own. These 25 instruments elevate what is already one of the most popular artist models for PRS, and in doing so, exemplify the philosophies of the Private Stock trademark: tone, playability, craftsmanship, and art. “We are proud to expand the Private Stock catalog of instruments with this limited run. To have David’s support in this venture makes it all the more rewarding.” – Paul Miles, Director of Private Stock.
